Verity, written by Colleen Hoover, is a psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. One of the most fascinating facts about the book Verity is that the author, Colleen Hoover, originally wrote it as a standalone thriller, but due to the overwhelming response from her readers, she decided to turn it into a duology. Hoover wrote a prequel to Verity called “Too Late,” which was originally published as a Wattpad story before being released as a book. This means that Verity is not only an excellent standalone novel, but is also the first book in a series.

It’s a story about a struggling writer, Lowen Ashleigh, who is hired to finish the remaining books of a successful author, Verity Crawford after she suffered from an accident that left her unable to complete them. As Lowen starts to go through Verity’s notes and manuscripts, she discovers some dark and disturbing truths about the author’s life, leading her to question if Verity is who she claims to be.

The book is written in an epistolary format, where the story unfolds through a series of journal entries, manuscript pages, and emails. The writing is excellent, and the author does a fantastic job of building suspense and tension throughout the novel. One of the most striking aspects of Verity is the vivid descriptions of the characters’ emotions and feelings. The readers can empathize with the characters, feel their pain and confusion, and be pulled into the story.

One of the most breathtaking moments in the book is when Lowen finds a manuscript written by Verity that reveals some disturbing truths about her life. In this manuscript, Verity confesses to committing heinous acts, including harming her children. The author’s vivid descriptions of these events will leave you shaken and disturbed.

Another captivating aspect of the book is the way the author handles the theme of identity. The story raises some thought-provoking questions about who we are and what we are capable of. Verity’s actions force the readers to question if we can ever truly know someone, even if we think we do.

One of my favourite quotes from the book is when Verity says,

“We all have the potential to do terrible things. But we also have the potential to overcome our mistakes and redeem ourselves.”

This quote resonated with me because it highlights the idea that we are not defined by our past mistakes, and there is always the possibility of change.

In conclusion, Verity is a gripping and thought-provoking novel that keeps you guessing until the end. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions that will make you feel shocked, scared, and even hopeful. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good psychological thriller.
